Vague / Unstable Handling in Porsche 993 – 996 – 997 Models

This behavior creates an insecure driving feeling and reduces confidence in your vehicle.
Many experts recommend installing a new suspension system, or a combination of suspension, lowering springs, and stiffer anti-roll bars.
If the problem persists, some even go further by installing polyurethane or uniball joints — following the motto:
“More is better!”
But is this really the right approach to significantly improve your Porsche’s handling and make it safer?

So what is the real cause?
The issue described originates from the factory-designed decoupling of the rear subframe in Porsche vehicles.
This decoupling is implemented to provide a smoother and quieter ride in standard road cars. Porsche uses elastic rubber sleeves and silent bushings to isolate mechanical vibrations and resonance from the cabin.
While the subframe is connected to the chassis, these elastic elements allow slight movement.
This reduces noise — but unfortunately results in vague and imprecise handling.
Our Solution
By eliminating this decoupling with our components, you may notice a slight increase in mechanical noise. In some cases, drivetrain or transmission sounds may become more audible inside the cabin.
